This Spill information guide helps remind viewers the steps required when dealing with hazardous spills. The sign states: Protect: Evaluate the material spilled and / or identify the source. Wear / use the appropriate protective clothing / equipment for the situation. If the source or the substance is not identifiable, assume the worst. Contain: Seal drains and contain the substance using appropriate spill control consumables such as absorbent socks and booms. Close valves, rotate punctured drums and plug leaks where it is possible and safe to do so. Clean Up: Clean up the spill with appropriate absorbents and thoroughly clean tools and reusable items and store for the next use. Dispose: Absorbent materials take on the characteristics of whatever they absorb. Dispose of used absorbents and spilled liquids in accordance with current legislation. Report: Where required report the spill to appropriate external authorities and always review, report and apply learning within your own organisation.
