Stairway X (Specify when ordering) - Safety Product

Designed to clearly identify stairwells in multi-storey buildings, providing essential reference information during emergencies. By marking stairways with specific identifiers, occupants, visitors, and emergency responders can quickly determine which stairwell to use, improving evacuation efficiency and safety. Clear stairway identification also helps first responders locate the correct route for rescues, firefighting, or other emergency interventions.

This type of signage is particularly important because, during fire, smoke, or power outages, stairwells can become confusing or disorienting, especially in large or complex buildings. Clearly marked stairways reduce panic, prevent bottlenecks, and ensure that evacuation procedures are followed accurately. It also enhances communication between occupants and emergency personnel, allowing them to quickly reference a specific stairwell when reporting their location or directing others.

Where to use: Custom Stairway X signs should be installed at the entrance of stairwells, along stairwell landings, and near emergency exit points in multi-storey buildings such as hotels, hospitals, office towers, schools, and public facilities. Placement should be highly visible, easy to read, and positioned so that even in low-light, smoky, or blackout conditions, the sign can be easily identified.

Using a Custom Stairway X emergency escape sign improves building safety, supports compliance with fire safety regulations, and reinforces a structured approach to emergency management. By providing clear and visible stairwell identification, it helps occupants evacuate safely and allows emergency responders to navigate the building more efficiently.

Materials Explained

Below is a more detailed description of the materials this particular safety sign is available in. Helping you decide which sign option is most suitable for your application.

To achieve high performance in low light conditions and conform to ISO 16069 we recommend using Ultra Bright.

Ultra Bright Photoluminescent Rigid Plastic: Ultra Bright rigid plastic has a photoluminescent (glow in the dark) pigmentation which offers a highly effective, reliable, and energy-free visibility in low-light or blackout conditions, making them ideal for emergency exit applications. The afterglow properties exceed PSPA Class C grade, as measured to DIN 6751, provides razor sharp definition in blackout conditions.

Ultra Bright Photoluminescent Self Adhesive: Ultra Bright self adhesive vinyl is a flexible PVC with photoluminescent (glow in the dark) pigmentation. The self-adhesive backing enables quick, tool-free application on smooth, clean surfaces like walls and doors. The afterglow properties exceed PSPA Class C grade, as measured to DIN 6751, provides razor sharp definition in blackout conditions, making them ideal for emergency escape applications.
