BS 9991:2024 has changed the rules. Photoluminescent signage meets them.
We recently sent out an email campaign regarding BS 9991:2024 (Corrigendum A21) and the clear opportunity to increase sales by promoting Ultra Bright photoluminescent signage, rather than electrical fed signs and luminaires.
If you didn't receive this email campaign contact the support email address to be added onto the mailing list or log into this website and navigate to "Marketing PDFs and Product Datasheets" within your account to view the "BS 9991:2024 - Photolum Signs Flip Book". Additionally you can find the download for "How to Start the Conversation" for additional information regarding Ultra Bright Photoluminescent Materials and BS 9991:2024.
BS 9991:2024 (Corrigendum A21) refers to a British Standard for fire safety in residential buildings, together with a later correction notice (corrigendum) issued to fix or clarify parts of the published standard.
The recent update to BS 9991:2024 confirms that, for buildings over 50 metres, low mounted guidance systems do not need to be electrically powered. Photoluminescent (PL) systems are now explicitly recognised as a fully compliant alternative.
We advise our distributors to take full advantage of this corrigendum and promote Ultra Bright materials to support and facilitate full compliance with the requirements set out in BS 9991:2024, helping to ensure clear communication of essential safety information within residential buildings.
